FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Good Things Do Grow in Ontario!

Toronto, ON – October 02, 2008 – Using time-honoured techniques and traditions that speak of a love for good food, Ontario’s artisan producers of cheeses, cured meats and local wines have come into their own- and it’s about time! You’ve heard of local and sustainable food production in your own back yards- now meet the producers face to face as they tell you about how they make that impeccable wedge of Piacere or that melt-in-the-mouth prosciutto.

These are our unsung food chain heroes and heroines- they don’t run multi-million dollar ad campaigns; many do not have a .com, and almost all started out as ‘one-person’ operations. If you’ve ever wondered how cheese-maker Ruth Klahsen of Monforte Dairy or Mario Pingue of Niagara Food Specialties (maker of bresaola, prosciutto that rivals what often comes from overseas and salami to name a few) honed their craft – then the Taste of Ontario series of classes is for you!

Nella Cucina Culinary School and Aphrodite Cooks have developed a new and delectable series of classes entitled Taste of Ontario. Each class will feature a selection of Ontario’s finest Food Purveyors or Farmers, where guests will be invited to sit back and relax as each producer/farmer presents a tasting of their favourite products, talks about their craft, and answers your questions. As a delicious bonus, many purveyors will be offering their often hard to come by products for sale after the class (cash only please!). Imagine your next dinner party possibilities!

The inaugural Taste of Ontario class is being held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 7-9pm at Nella Cucina, located at 876 Bathurst Street. Ruth and Mario will be there along with a fine selection of Ontario wines paired by chef/sommelier Tonia Wilson of Savour.

Future classes will showcase different purveyors according to seasonal availability, with the next event slated for January 2009.

Seating is limited, and costs $60 + GST per person. Please contact Joanne Lusted at Nella Cucina (joanne@nellacucina.ca or 416.922.9055 x. 21) or visit www.nellacucina.ca for tickets to this one-of-a-kind event!

Nella Cucina is located at 876 Bathurst Street, just North of Bloor Street, and the Bathurst Subway Station. Complimentary Parking is available behind the store. Visit www.nellacucina.ca for further information.
